Model Round Table

A video of VOGUE's round-table discussion with models past and present. Lauren Hutton, Karlie Kloss, Caroline Trentini, Iman, Paulina Porizkova, Naomi Campbell and Hilary Rhoda all discuss modeling over time. Karlie is annoyed by having to constantly fit a mold, Iman talks about how she learned to model, and Caroline admits she's still working on her confidence. The most awkward moment of it all? Paulina's turn to 16-year-old Karlie when she says that there should be an age limit so models won't be 15 and 16 anymore.

Peter Copping Taking Over Nina Ricci

Rumors always have a hint of truth to them, otherwise we wouldn't even bother. This proves true when it comes to Peter Copping. After Oliver Theyskens early departure from Ricci on March 10th, Peter Copping is now officially the new artistic director at the brand. Copping, who was formerly the right hand man to Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton, has been suspected to be the successor to Theyskens for a few months now. The designer started Monday, and is currently working on a resort collection that should be unveiled in late June. His first fashion week runway show won't be until March of 2010, as they want him to settle in. The first thought that comes to my mind is will Nina Ricci finally get it right with this guy? After all, they've had three designers in the last three years...

i-D's 300th Issue

i-D's 300th issue is coming up for their June 2009 issue. Six girls have been cast so far, and it's been quite under-the-radar. The only thing we know? One is a "gorgeous American who has been MIA from the scene for few years now. You've caught a glimpse of her in Vogue Paris and on the Givenchy FW 09 runway." This lead people to believe that it was Jessica Miller (pictured), who appeared in last November's Vogue Paris and walked in Givenchy this past season.

Michael Jackson Wears Balmain

Balmain has been compared to the likes of the eighties, and right at the heart of that, it's of course Michael Jackson. I came across this picture, though, (the one that made the blogging world crazy) of him wearing Balmain. What do you think?

Gucci Fall 2009

We know that Frida cast nine models for the Gucci Fall 2009 campaign and now we have some names: Raquel Zimmermann, Natasha Poly, Freja Beha Erichsen, Myf Shepherd and Abbey Lee. A few more to go, and Lily Donaldson is said to be one of them since Frida tends to stick to what she knows. She's also chose Londoner and former Gucci face Jacquetta Wheeler to join the campaign, since she seems to be smitten with the city. The shoot took place in a north London studio. “We’re in London, so of course I had to have an English girl.” She said of Jacquetta.

In the Rumor Mill

--->Chanel Iman and Sessilee Lopez both posted on twitter about a secret and exciting shoot in London yesterday. It's supposedly a cover, and speculation has pointed to Vogue Paris, Vogue UK or Love. the only hint now is that it's a "ITS A MAJOR MOMENT IN FASHION!!!!!"

---> Madonna may be returning for Louis Vuitton's Fall 2009 campaign after her spread-legged shoot for their spring ads. The shoot is expected to take place at the end of this month.

---> Where will Oliver Theyskens go next? They're saying either Halston in New York or Schiaparelli in Italy, but bet on Schiparelli, it fits his design theory, and sources are cited for this rumor.

More Multi-Model Shots Inside!

The first one I just love...Thoughts?

Meet The Boyfriends!

Chanel Iman, Doutzen Kroes, and four other models pose (and come clean about) their boyfriends.

Inside the Issue: Model as Muse Spread

Natalia Vodianova channels 10 different models who have inspired fashion in their time.

May Vogue 2009 Cover (It's Here!)

Long awaited, we now get to see who and what grace the cover of another models-right-now cover for Vogue. The main cover features Natalia Vodianova, Lyia Kebede, and Anna Jagodzinska. Then on the foldout there's Isabeli Fontana, Lara Stone, Jourdan Dunn, Raquel Zimmermann, Caroline Trentini, and Natasha Poly. Missing? No Chanel Iman or Agyness Deyn, who weren't expected here, but did appear on the May 2007 "models right now" issue of Vogue. The surprise lucky girls? Isabeli Fontana and Anna Jagodzinska, who weren't mentioned in any of the speculation surrounding the cover. This also marks the third consecutive month a woman of color has appeared on the cover of Vogue: Liya Kebede for May, Beyonce for April, and Michelle Obama for March. The chioce may be politically correct, but I beg to differ when it comes to the cover shot verses the two other shots they could have used. My favorite is Caroline, Raquel and Natasha, then Jourdan, Isabeli and Lara.

Fashion Quickie

I just heard that Uma Thurman will be the new face of Givenchy.. no details yet, but hopefully soon!

Quoted: Iekeliene Stange

"Those photographers just don’t exist anymore, who really love to go in there and show the world what’s going on. Now with television and everything, you have these different types of media that are taking away the interest in photography. The quality is really missing. [Before] they actually changed people’s opinions of what was going on. People now look at these pictures of dying children in Africa, and they’re like, “OK, I’ve seen this, I’ve seen that.”

Sienna Miller Will Appear on Vogue's July Cover

While we anxiously await the May cover featuring models on top of their game right now, it has been confirmed that Sienna Miller will be on the cover of Vogue's July issue. Speculation started when Anna Wintour attended the premiere of her film, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, and we now know that she shot her cover last week in Los Angeles. Personally, I think Sienna's beautiful, and a great pick for the cover. What do you think of the choice?

THINGS I LOVE: Balmain's Shoulders

I absolutely love Balmain. Right at the heart of everything trendy right now, and so is Victoria. The shoulders are something we saw almost everywhere, but Balmain's continue to be my fave, especially paired with those gorgeous tye dye jeans. Thoughts?

Alessandro Dell'Acqua out of Malo

One of my personal favorites, Alessandro Dell'Acqua, has left Malo, following up It Holding filing for bankruptcy in February. Dell'Acqua's stunning collection for his signature line for Spring 2009 back in September couldn't compare to the clothes from Malo. Now, he says he's left because they "can't afford" him. A team is supposedly coming in to design for the brand now, and in a statement released by the house, they say, "They don't need a marquee name or a creative director. It's wise to go with a team,".

Anne's Tight with Valentino and Marc, but not Officially

Anne Hathaway and Valentino seemed like she was pretty close with the seemingly retired designer, and now she's gotten to known Marc Jacobs through stylist Rachel Zoe, who styles Anne and knows Marc well. It almost seemed as he had a new muse, maybe for a campaign (rumors flew, especially because Victoria Beckham now has her own clothing line) or a date for the Costume Institute Gala. Now, though, we know that she won't be the new face of Jacob's brand, but serving as a date for the Gala wasn't outlawed yet...

Now more than ever seems to be the time for young brands to jump into the game of fashion ad campaigns. Rodarte's once-run ads made rounds on the internet a few weeks back, now Zac Posen and Derek Lam, like every other designer, seems to need to maximize retail now. Posen's campaign was released a few weeks ago, and now we have a look at Derek Lam's Fall 09 campaign, which is set to run in Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Elle, etc. The model is Karmen Pedaru, and it's set on a beach, stimulated like Pier 59 in New York. The real campaign, which we'll get to see in August, is expected to be bursting with "technicolor" Thoughts?

MTV Looks to Models as the Next LC?

With the next and final season of the Hills airing tonight on MTV, and the mixed reaction to the all-over-the-place spin off "The City", it's no wonder MTV is searching frantically after their next big thing, after all, Paris Hilton's BFF show wasn't exactly good TV. Now, however, Daisy Lowe has signed on to do a documentary on her life, and Alexa Chung seems to be leaning in the direction of MTV while she's still considering whether or not she'll continue on TV.

Chanel Campaign News

Heidi Mount, the lucky girl whose modeling career was launched by Karl Lagerfeld two seasons ago when he decided to make her his new favorite, is now on board for the fall campaign, but rumor has it now that she'll have to share the spotlight with Freja Beha Erichsen. The beautiful Vermont home of Karl Lagerfeld will serve as the location for the shoot again, "It was very cold, the sky was blue and the light was stunning." The campaign includes a barn as a backdrop. "I’ve never seen such a beautiful barn in my life." She says.

Lorenzo, What Happened to Your Happily Ever After?

After seeing Lorenzo Martone and Marc Jacobs hang gliding in Brazil, where they were supposedly going to be soaking up the sun for the next month, it seemed that they were in that phase of pure bliss before reality kicks in, but surprisingly, Lorenzo popped up at a party for Nylon magazine just last night, without his better half. Logic rules out the possibility that he and Marc have split; he wouldn't have hit the party scene yet, possibly they had to return early for work? It's had to tell... what do you think?

Chanel the Only Major Europan Resort Show Left Standing

The upcoming resort season- known for being notoriously sunny and glamorous, not to mention staged across the globe is feeling the economic heat, even in those overly-priced designer swimsuits. Chanel's show is scheduled to go on in Venice on May 14th, which then makes it the only standing resort show from a big European fashion house this season. Christian Dior has canceled their show completely, and Gucci will only stage a presentation at the New York flagship.
